Botox vs. Dysport: What’s the difference? Which do you prefer?

Botox and Dysport are both neuromodulators meant to relax muscles, prevent dynamic facial movements, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. While both are wonderful products, Grace Medical Aesthetics’ injectors prefer to use Dysport as our primary wrinkle relaxer. Dysport takes 3-5 days to show full results, vs. Botox which takes 7-10 days. The result of Dysport tends to be a more natural look, where as Botox can often be associated with a “frozen” look. Dysport is brought to us by Galderma, the company that ranks Grace Medical Aesthetics as the #1 injectable practice in Connecticut, New York, and New England and one of the top practices in the United States.

What is the difference between Restylane and Juvederm? Which do you prefer?

Restylane and Juvederm are both hyaluronic acid (HA) based dermal fillers that come in a variety of products and can be used in various areas of the face. The Restylane family of products offered at Grace Medical Aesthetics include Restylane, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Kysse, Restylane Contour, and Restylane Silk. These products range in their softness/firmness, ability to hold structure, and ability to move with the face or stay in place. The combination of this family of products offers solutions to almost all concerns and areas of the face of someone seeking dermal filler. Restylane products are brought to us by Galderma, the company that ranks Grace Medical Aesthetics as the #1 injectable practice in Connecticut, New York, and New England and one of the top practices in the United States, and is typically our HA filler product of choice. The Juvederm family of products offered at Grace Medical Aesthetics includes Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC, and Juvederm Voluma. These products are used in moderation at Grace Medical Aesthetics for those looking to achieve a specific goal or who simply prefer them.

What are Botox and Dysport used for?

Botox and Dysport are neuromodulators meant to relax the dynamic movement of the facial muscles. Once the muscles are relaxed, wrinkles and fine lines begin to smooth and eventually may disappear. Botox and Dysport also prevent the onset of new wrinkles forming.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal injectable fillers are meant to restore volume or augment an area of the face. Dermal fillers can plump a lip, add contour to a cheek bone, define a jawline, and correct a hollowing under eye. Most commonly dermal fillers are made of various consistencies of hyaluronic acid (HA), which allow creases and folds to be softly filled to help smooth the skin and restore volume loss due to aging.

Where are injectable dermal fillers used?

Dermal fillers can be used to correct volume loss in the cheeks, under eyes, nasolabial folds (smile lines), temples, and the mid/lower face. Fillers can be used to augment the size of the lip, cheeks, and chin. They can also be used to build structure to lift jowls or fallen cheeks and define the contour of a jawline and cheekbones. Dermal fillers can also be creatively used to correct necklace or “tech neck” lines that band across a neck, correct volume loss in an aging hand, or to fill a drooping, overstretched earlobe. Radiesse, a dermal filler, can be hyperdilluted and placed for skin quality improvement and collagen growth without added bulk or volume to an area like the décolleté.

How long does Botox or Dysport last?

Dysport or Botox injections last about 4 months before full movement is back in the area injected. Dysport will take 3-5 days to kick in and reach the “peak” strength around the 2-3 week mark. From there, the muscles will remain relaxed over the next few months and begin to regain movement around the 3 or 3.5 month mark. Botox takes 7-10 days to kick in and will do the same.

Bruising after injectables: What can I expect? Can I prevent bruising?

Bruising after dermal fillers or wrinkle relaxers is a common side effect that the injectors of Grace Medical Aesthetics try our best to avoid. The risk of bruising depends primarily on the area being injected and the number of vessels in the area. Grace Medical Aesthetics’ injectors utilize microcannulas whenever possible to limit the risk of bruising and increase safety. The risk of bruising can be lowered by avoiding alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) 24 hours before your appointment. If you do develop a bruise, oral or topical Arnica Montana will help diminish bruising. For more pre-care and post-care information, click here.

Swelling after injectables: How long does swelling last after fillers?

Swelling after dermal fillers is normal and to be expected to begin within an hour of your appointment lasting up to 72 hours. The severity of post procedure swelling will depend on the area treated and the product used. Lips and under eyes will swell significantly and can be improved by sleeping on extra pillows, drinking a moderate amount of water, and avoiding salty foods. Lips can swell up to 3 times their normal size and is not an indicator of an allergy. Cheeks treated with Radiesse will swell more significantly and more sharply than other products. Grace Medical Aesthetics will send you home with an icepack for your comfort and convenience to minimize the onset swelling. For more post-care information, click here.

How long do lip injections last? How much do lip injections cost?

Lip injections typically last from 4-6 months when receiving a full syringe of Restylane or Juvederm. Lip injections are priced per syringe, which range from $575-$700 depending on product choice and if you're a member of our injectable membership. Typically one syringe is used per appointment and will result in a moderate increase in volume or improved shape. For those looking to build a lot of volume in the lip, follow up visits for additional syringes may be necessary. At Grace Medical Aesthetics, we suggest adding dermal filler slowly and over the course of a few appointments to reach your goal lip size and shape. If you are looking to build a lot of volume in a small lip, you may layer syringes closer together and the length of time they last may extend. These syringes can be placed 4-6 weeks apart to capitalize on your volume increase. Once you have reached your goal lip, upkeep with one syringe every 6 months or so will typically keep your lips where you’d like without needing to start from scratch.

How long do fillers last in the cheeks? How much do cheek fillers cost?

Cheek fillers can last from 9-18 months depending on product choice. There are a variety of options depending on your budget and goals that can be discussed in a free consultation with one of our injectors. The differences between Restylane Lyft, Restylane Contour, Radiesse, and Juvederm Voluma can be discussed in detail to decide which dermal filler is best for your cheek augmentation. Cheek filler pricing depends on both the product choice and the amount of product necessary to reach your goals. Syringes range from $650-$850 each and anywhere from one to multiple syringes can be used in an appointment.

Can you use fillers for under eye bags, hollowing, or for dark circles?

Yes, most of the time dermal fillers can be placed in the under eye area to correct the appearance of under eye bags, hollowing, and dark circles. Hollowing under the eye is common with age or genetics and can be improved with the use of dermal filler. The under eye bags that can develop overtime as we age may be corrected with the use of dermal filler, however may need to be treated with a different approach. A consultation can determine what treatment plan would be best for you. Dark circles under the eyes can be moderately improved with the use of dermal filler, although may need to be treated in conjunction with a 1064 Eye Brightening laser treatment series. At Grace Medical Aesthetics, our injectors exclusively utilize a microcannula when treating the under eyes for safety purposes and to significantly decrease the risk of pain and bruising.

How long does under eye filler last? How much does under eye filler cost?

Under eye filler can last anywhere from 4-12 months depending on the product that is used. Syringes are $650 each and typically only one syringe is used per appointment. Under eye filler must be placed carefully and slowly, so a follow up visit may be necessary depending on the severity of hollowing in the under eye.

What are the side effects and risks of Botox or Dysport? Are Botox and Dysport safe?

When injected by an aesthetically trained, licensed medical professional, both Botox and Dysport are safe. Both products are FDA approved and at Grace Medical Aesthetics are injected by either an APRN, PA, or RN with extensive aesthetic training. Common side effects of Botox and Dysport may include bruising, redness, or soreness at the injection site. There is the possibility of the brow either “spocking” or dropping once the wrinkle relaxer has set in, however both are adjustable. Risk of a common side effect or an adverse event may depend on the area being treated and your medical history and will be discussed as part of your consultation with your injector prior to being injected.

What are the side effects and risks of fillers? Are dermal fillers safe?

When injected by an aesthetically trained, licensed medical professional, dermal fillers are indeed safe. All dermal fillers utilized at Grace Medical Aesthetics are FDA approved and injected by either an APRN or PA with extensive aesthetic training. Common side effects of injectable dermal fillers include swelling, bruising, redness, pain or soreness, and tenderness. These side effects should subside within 24-72 hours post procedure. Risk of a common side effect or adverse event may depend on the area being treated and your medical history and will be discussed as part of your consultation with your injector prior to being injected.

Are fillers permanent? Can dermal fillers be removed?

The dermal fillers offered at Grace Medical Aesthetics are not permanent. Depending on the area of the face and product injected, fillers will last anywhere from 4-18 months. Dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid (HA), such as Restylane or Juvederm, can be dissolved if desired or necessary. Products like Radiesse or Sculptra are not removable, but are not permanent. Results from these products can last from 1-5 years. Consultation with one of the Grace Medical Aesthetics’ staff is necessary to determine which dermal filler is right for you.

What does Botox or Dysport feel like? Do injectables hurt?

Your comfort is one of our injector’s top priorities! Because everyone’s pain tolerance is different, it is hard to say whether or not injectables are going to hurt you. Dysport or Botox injections are typically the least painful due to the small needle size and may feel like quick, tiny pinches. To ease your discomfort, ice or vibratory distraction devices can be used.

What do lip injections feel like? Do you use a numbing cream or dental block?

The lips are typically the most sensitive area when it comes to injectables. Grace Medical Aesthetics’ injectors always use a strong lidocaine based numbing cream before injecting. The first few pokes will feel like tiny pinches, but there is lidocaine in the product itself which provides additional numbing as the treatment goes on. Although extremely rare, we can provide dental blocks per your request. Additionally to ease discomfort you may feel, ice or vibratory distraction devices can be used. Grace Medical Aesthetics also offers self administered nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for pain tolerance if desired.

Injectables before & after: How long until I see results? Are results immediate?

Results using dermal fillers are immediately seen (instant gratification is so satisfying, right?), however some areas of the face may require more than one session to safely reach your final goal outcome. Once the dermal filler is injected into the specific area, the area may swell for 24-72 hours and take up to 2 weeks to fully “settle”. Although you will see the presence of the dermal filler immediately, the final and lasting result is shown about 2 weeks post procedure. Generally speaking, we will tell you that the lips you see in the mirror immediately following your lip filler will go down about 20% due to the swelling.

Results of Dysport or Botox are not immediate. Dysport will take 3-5 days to fully relax the muscle and prevent dynamic movements. Botox will take 7-10 days. Once the muscles are relaxed, the fine lines and wrinkles that have set in over time may take weeks to months to fully smooth, however will improve little by little daily.

What is a Sculptra Butt Lift? Does Grace Medical Aesthetics offer them?

Sculptra is an injectable product that stimulates collagen growth to increase volume in an area of the body. A Sculptra Butt Lift is a procedure performed with many vials of Sculptra being placed in the buttocks with the goal being to increase the size and roundness of the buttocks and to smooth cellulite dimpling. While we do have the ability to offer this procedure at Grace Medical Aesthetics, and have performed them in the past, we encourage our clients to fully research the procedure and discuss with our injectors about a realistic outcome. Many Sculptra Butt Lift seekers may expect the result to appear similar to a surgical Brazilian Butt Lift, and this is simply not the case. Ideally, the right candidate for a Sculptra Butt Lift at Grace Medical Aesthetics is someone who is looking to moderately improve the appearance of dimpling in the buttocks and round out any areas of indentation.

How does laser hair removal work?

Grace Medical Aesthetics uses an in-motion diode laser, the Alma Soprano Titanium, for all laser hair removal treatments. The Alma Soprano Titanium targets the chromophore in the skin that contains melanin. It heats the melanin while leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed. This selective heating targets the hair follicle that is darker than the surrounding environment and heats the follicle enough to coagulate the tiny blood vessel that supplies the follicle and thus, kills that hair follicle. This is a permanent treatment. However, because our hair is never at full growth, it has cycles of dormancy, activity, and latency. The only follicles we cannot kill are the ones who are dormant. This is the reason we ask people to come once a month for treatment- in hopes that we will be able to treat newly active hair cycles, which occur every 4-6 weeks.

How long is a session of laser hair removal at Grace Medical Aesthetics?

Laser hair removal sessions at Grace Medical Aesthetics’ Southbury, CT, Bedford Hills, NY, Westport, CT, and Southington, CT offices are quick and easy! Depending on the area of the body you are treating, appointments range from 10-30 minutes. Your appointment may be longer if you are treating more than one area of the body.

How many sessions of laser hair removal are necessary?

Laser hair removal is a cumulative process that requires the hair follicle to be damaged multiple times. The number of sessions required to permanently reduce hair growth does depend on the area of the body, but at Grace Medical Aesthetics, we estimate 8-10 sessions.

Is laser hair removal painful? What does laser hair removal feel like?

Laser hair removal at Grace Medical Aesthetics is not at all painful! Our Alma Soprano Titanium is an in-motion diode laser, meaning the laser head is constantly moving across your skin in the area being treated. Although the laser does get warm, because it is constantly in motion, it is similar to the heat of a hot stone massage or less. The Alma Soprano Titanium also has a continuous cooling tip which prevents the laser head from ever becoming too warm to tolerate. All treatments are manually performed by Grace Medical Aesthetics’ laser nurses, so if you ever do become uncomfortable, they can adjust settings or take a break when needed.

What parts of the body can be treated with laser hair removal?

Truthfully, any part of the body where you have unwanted hair can be treated with laser hair removal at Grace Medical Aesthetics. Most commonly treated areas are the underarms, bikini, legs, and face. Men can treat a full back or chest of unwanted body hair. Women can stop worrying about waxing unwanted facial hair.

Can facial hair be treated with laser hair removal?

Yes! Facial hair can be treated with laser hair removal for both men and women.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal is permanent hair reduction, yes. Once an area has fully been treated, there will be a 90% loss of hair in the area. Most people will see this level of reduction throughout the years, however hormone changes (such as pregnancy) can cause regrowth. Additionally, some people may require a one session touch up every 2-3 years to maintain the hair reduction.

All of our laser hair removal treatments are performed by extensively trained registered nurses whose goal is client comfort, professionalism, and optimal results.

Laser hair removal near me: Laser hair removal in Connecticut? Laser hair removal in Westchester?

Grace Medical Aesthetics offers painless and affordable laser hair removal to Connecticut and New York residents alike in our Southbury, CT, Bedford Hills, NY, Westport, CT, and Southington, CT offices!

Can I shave before or after my laser hair removal treatment?

Yes! Laser hair removal treatments and results are not affected by shaving the unwanted hair in the treated area. Laser hair removal treatments at Grace Medical Aesthetics require the area to be clean shaven the day of or the day before a treatment.

Can I wax or pluck before or after my laser hair removal treatment?

No. Waxing or plucking unwanted hair in the area of laser hair removal treatment will render the treatment useless. In order for laser hair removal to be successful, the follicle of the hair must remain intact. Waxing or plucking damages or completely removes the follicle. Over the course of your treatment and for 4 weeks prior to your first treatment, waxing or plucking unwanted hair in the area is not advised. In addition, bleaching the hair is not advised because the laser will not be able to detect the hair without color. The only way to remove the unwanted hair over the course of the laser hair removal process is shaving.

Laser hair removal side effects: Is laser hair removal safe?

Yes! Laser hair removal is safe, especially when performed by trained and registered nurses like those at Grace Medical Aesthetics. The benefits outweigh the risks when you think about painful ingrown hairs and the cost & time of shaving or waxing. Short lived side effects include redness in the treated area and possible minor inflammation. The skin may feel tingly or tender, although this dissipates quickly. Your skin will have increased sensitivity to the sun. It is always important to apply SPF every 2 hours, but even more so while being treated for laser hair removal.

CoolSculpting Price: How much does CoolSculpting cost?

Many clients want to know if CoolSculpting is affordable. Overall, when compared to other fat reduction treatments, such as liposuction, a typical CoolSculpting price tag is a lower than many clients expect. However, the specific CoolSculpting cost depends on the number of areas being treated and the number of treatments performed. Grace Medical Aesthetics offers some of the most affordable CoolSculpting prices in Southbury and during your free consultation we will discuss CoolSculpting prices, our CoolSculpting Loyalty program, and available payment options. Grace Medical Aesthetics proudly accepts CareCredit with 6 month no interest financing; apply here.

Can CoolSculpting be combined with other treatments?

Yes. In fact, at Grace Medical Aesthetics, we often combine CoolSculpting with Ultherapy, a skin tightening treatment, for optimal results. A combination of CoolSculpting and Ultherapy is especially effective with improving the appearance of a double chin. After fat reduction using the CoolMini, the applicator specifically designed to reduce submental fat (a double chin). Ultherapy can be used to help tighten loose skin that commonly results after reducing a double chin.

Does CoolSculpting hurt?

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive fat reduction treatment. It does not traumatize the body like other fat reduction procedures such as liposuction. Of course, individual experiences may vary but the majority of our clients report CoolSculpting to be relatively painless. Your CoolSculpting specialist at Grace Medical Aesthetics prioritizes both your fat reduction results following your CoolSculpting treatment as well as your experience during your procedure, and will do everything possible to ensure your comfort. But please, if there is anything you can think of that would make your CoolSculpting experience more enjoyable, don’t hesitate to ask. During the CoolSculpting procedure, the most likely occurrence of mild discomfort takes place at the beginning of the treatment, after the CoolSculpting applicator is in place and the CoolSculpting machine is turned on, exposing the treatment area to controlled cooling. Clients liken the sensation during this part of the CoolSculpting procedure to an ice pack placed on your skin. You may feel cold, but shouldn’t feel like you’re freezing. Typically, the skin becomes numb within a few minutes and any discomfort dissipates quickly. The other instance during the procedure that can be uncomfortable for a few clients comes after the CoolSculpting machine is turned off and the applicator is removed. At this point your CoolSculpting specialist will massage the treatment area for a couple of minutes. This ensures your fat reduction looks natural and symmetrical. Some clients may experience discomfort during the massage, but most do not. One clinical study measuring the efficacy of CoolSculpting and patient perception of the CoolSculpting procedure reported “The majority” of patients “described minimal to tolerable discomfort during the procedure.” So, while discomfort varies from person to person, most say CoolSculpting was not painful. In fact, most clients just lay back, relax, play on their phone, work from their phone, or take a nap.

What is the CoolSculpting room like?

At Grace Medical Aesthetics, we want you to have a luxurious experience that is as comfortable as possible. For your entertainment, our CoolSculpting room is equipped with a TV hooked up to Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. There is an iPad with Spotify and Pandora for your listening pleasures, as well as beverages for your enjoyment. If you are on your lunch break or simply feel hungry, we can have food delivered, because there is nothing quite like eating while you are having your fat frozen.

What is the CoolSculpting procedure like?

During a CoolSculpting session, an applicator is positioned to the treatment area. When the machine begins cooling, you may feel a bit tight and strange in the treatment area. Typically around the 4-minute mark, the treatment area will go numb and many patients don’t feel a thing for the remainder of the treatment. After the applicator is removed, we massage the area for 2 minutes and the treatment is completed.

How long does CoolSculpting take?

Treatment time with CoolSculpting depends on the areas being treated, the applicator being used, and if more than one area is being treated during one appointment. Usually, CoolSculpting treatments take about an hour and many Grace Medical Aesthetics clients get CoolSculpting during their lunch hour and return directly to work, hence the popular nickname for CoolSculpting as “Lunch hour Lipo.” At Grace Medical Aesthetics, we offer CoolSculpting using the Cool Advantage applicator which cuts treatment times in half, typically to 35 minutes.

Is CoolSculpting safe?

Yes. CoolSculpting is FDA approved and scientifically substantiated as a non-invasive fat reduction treatment that safely exposes fat cells to controlled cooling, without harming surrounding tissue or skin. While all medical procedures have the potential for adverse reactions, CoolSculpting side effects are rare and short lasting. The most common CoolSculpting side effects consist of mild redness, swelling, or tingling.

CoolSculpting Results: When will I see results?

While experiences may vary, typically, optimal CoolSculpting results are seen at 8-12 weeks post treatment. Every client’s body reacts differently. We have clients see results in 3-5 weeks, while other clients see gradual improvement up to the 12-16 weeks mark. During your free consultation, your CoolSculpting specialist will discuss what to expect and when you may begin to see CoolSculpting results after your CoolSculpting session.

Do CoolSculpting results last?*

Yes. CoolSculpting provides long lasting fat reduction. According to a longitudinal study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in June of 2016 CoolSculpting results are “long lasting,” even with modest fluctuations in weight. It is very important however, to maintain your CoolSculpting results and not obscure your fat reduction with weight gain in surrounding areas.

Is there any down time after CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is non-invasive and for the vast majority of clients, there is no down time! While experiences may vary, typically after the CoolSculpting treatment clients can get right back to their daily activities. It is not unusual to feel a bit tender and numb for a few days in the treated area following a CoolSculpting procedure, but this sensation is temporary.

How many CoolSculpting treatments will I need?

Another benefit of CoolSculpting is the ability to treat the same area several times to achieve optimal results. The number of CoolSculpting treatments that are needed vary by client, treatment area, and treatment plan. But CoolSculpting is a completely customizable treatment – that’s why we love it! We welcome you to come in for a free consultation to discover your full “Treatment to Transformation” plan!

Are there CoolSculpting risks?

CoolSculpting is a safe, FDA cleared, non-invasive fat reduction treatment using Cryolipolysis to harness the body’s natural systems to reduce stubborn fat deposits. No scalpels, stitches, or lengthy recovery times are necessary. CoolSculpting safety is further validated by clinical studies, such as the one published in the Journal of Clinical, Cosmetic, and Investigational Dermatology which concluded “Cryolipolysis is considered to be both safe and efficient with a high patient satisfaction rate.” CoolSculpting is scientifically proven and FDA cleared as SAFE and EFFECTIVE. However, patient vigilance in choosing a well-qualified, reputable provider of CoolSculpting in Southbury and surrounding CT areas is crucial for ensuring a safe, effective experience with CoolSculpting.  Grace Medical Aesthetics prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of every client above all else. We ensure clients receive the highest standard of care by providing skilled, experienced, and thoroughly educated CoolSculpting specialists who receive extensive training from the CoolSculpting University because we know that experience and training is the best way to ensure the safest treatments and most optimal results possible.

What are CoolSculpting side effects?

CoolSculpting side effects are uncommon. But it is not unusual to experience mild redness, numbness, tenderness or bruising following the CoolSculpting treatment. These side effects are temporary and usually do not cause interruption to a client’s normal, daily activities. During your free consultation, your specialist will discuss any potential CoolSculpting side effects in detail, and will be available following your procedure if you have any questions or concerns regarding your CoolSculpting treatment.

How does the CoolSculpting machine work?

The CoolSculpting machine applies controlled cooling to a treatment area to freeze fat cells. Each CoolSculpting machine comes with interchangeable applicators, each designed to treat a specific part of the body. A cupped applicator, known as the CoolAdvantage, is the most versatile applicator and can treat most parts of the body. The CoolAdvantage is the quickest applicator offered by CoolSculpting and Grace Medical Aesthetics, treating various areas in just 35 minutes. The CoolSmoothPro is a flat applicator that requires no suction and is ideal for longer body parts that do not have "pinchable fat", such as outer thigh fat. There are also smaller cupped applicators designed to reach areas such as a double chin, the CoolMini, or upper arm fat, the CoolPetite. Once the appropriate CoolSculpting applicator is properly in place controlled cooling safely freeze the subcutaneous fat lying below the skin, without harming the skin or surrounding tissue.

Does CoolSculpting work on arms?

Yes. CoolSculpting can reduce upper arm fat using an applicator specially designed for areas such as your arms. When reducing fat, your CoolSculpting specialist at Grace Medical Aesthetics will position the best fitting applicator for optimal results. In addition, FDA clearance of a new applicator, the CoolPetite, was announced in late 2016 that was specifically designed for reducing upper arm fat. During your free consultation your CoolSculpting specialist will discuss the available option for reducing arm fat, as well as other stubborn fat deposits that cling to various “problem” areas around the body.

Does CoolSculpting work on legs?

What to expect after CoolSculpting?

After your CoolSculpting procedure you can expect to return to your normal, daily activities.

When will I see my CoolSculpting results?

While each client's body responds to the CoolSculpting procedure on its own time table, usually, clients begin to see results starting at 6 weeks, with optimal results typically seen 12-18 weeks after the CoolSculpting treatment. The gradual appearance of fat reduction is one of the most appreciated qualities of the CoolSculpting procedure because gradual fat reduction looks more natural and does not incur the long lasting swelling that obscure results from procedures such as liposuction.¹

Am I a good candidate for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is not intended to help people lose weight. It is a fat reduction treatment designed for healthy men and women who struggle with stubborn fat deposits that resist diet and exercise. The best way to find out if you are an ideal candidate for CoolSculpting is to schedule a free consultation with a CoolSculpting specialist.

How does CoolSculpting work to reduce fat?

CoolSculpting works because of Cryolipolysis, a scientifically proven technology that exposes fat cells to controlled cooling, freezing a portion of those fat cells without harming the surrounding skin or tissues. Frozen fat cells trigger apoptosis, or cell death. Over the course of several weeks, these dead fat cells are collected and metabolized and eventually exit from the body as waste. This results in a natural looking reduction of body fat.

Are CoolSculpting results permanent?

While results may vary, CoolSculpting results are scientifically verified to be long lasting. One longitudinal study seeking to answer the question "are coolsculpting results permanent" followed up on CoolSculpting subjects nearly a decade after receiving a single CoolSculpting treatment to their flank (love handle.) They reported that even with moderate weight fluctuations, “local reductions in flank fat have significant longevity in these subjects and suggest that results from cryolipolysis may be very long-lasting.” Read more about the science behind CoolSculpting as a long lasting, effective fat reduction treatment in the article “Safety, Tolerance, And Patient Satisfaction With Noninvasive Cryolipolysis.” found in the journal of Dermatological Surgery.

Does CoolSculpting work?

Yes, CoolSculpting works! Over 4 million CoolSculpting treatments performed to date show how CoolSculpting can help men and women reduce stubborn fat deposits. Besides its ever increasing popularity, CoolSculpting’s ability to reduce unwanted body fat has been substantiated in numerous clinical studies. One study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that on average, participants experienced a “23% reduction in fat layer thickness” 3 months after a single CoolSculpting session. Of the participants in that study “82% of patients would recommend the Cryolipolysis procedure to a friend.” This, and other substantiating evidence allowed researchers to conclude “With proper patient selection, Cryolipolysis is a safe, well-tolerated, and effective treatment method for reduction of subcutaneous fat.”

Ultherapy FAQ's

Does Ultherapy hurt? What does Ultherapy feel like?

While patient experience may vary, the majority of patients report Ultherapy pain to be minimal and effectively controlled with Ibuprofen or other pain reliever (as directed by a medical professional.) During the Ultherapy procedure, you will feel a small zing under your skin every second or so and you can take a break at any time.

When will I see my Ultherapy results and how long do Ultherapy results last?

While results may vary, typically optimal Ultherapy results are seen 12 weeks post procedure, and we invite you back upon your request to our office at the 12 week mark to check in and show your progress through your Ultherapy before and after photos. The results are gradual and you may not realize how great the technology has worked until you see photos. Collagen building does not have a time frame, so results diminish once your body begins to age over them naturally. On average, results last about 2 years.

Is there any downtime after my Ultherapy appointment?

While experiences may vary, for most Ultherapy clients, downtime is minimal and somewhat depends on skin sensitivity. Side effects are rare and most clients return to their normal activities immediately following their Ultherapy session. It is not unusual for some patients to feel a bit swollen and tender following an Ultherapy treatment, but this inflammation is mild and not noticeable to others. There is also a chance for bruising or welting, but this typically dissipates quickly. A client may also feel itchy or irritated under the skin for a week or so following the procedure, which is completely normal.

What do I do before and after my Ultherapy appointment?

Some patients may take 800mg of Ibuprofen a half hour before their appointment to aid some discomfort during the treatment, although nothing in required to prepare for the treatment. Afterwards, go back to your daily activities and await those gorgeous results!

How long does an Ultherapy appointment take?

Appointment time varies on the area being treated. Typically, a smaller area like the submentum (under the chin) takes as little as 30 minutes to treat. A full face, neck, and décolleté may take up to two hours.

Ultherapy Pricing: How much does Ultherapy cost?

Ultherapy treatments are broken up into certain areas of the face, so pricing per treatment varies. At Grace Medical Aesthetics, Ultherapy treatment areas begin at $350. Grace Medical Aesthetics proudly accepts CareCredit with 6 month no interest financing; apply here.

What areas can be treated using Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is FDA approved to treat the full face, neck, and décolleté. Brows, crow's feet, under eyes, cheeks, around the mouth, under the chin (submentum), neck, and décolleté are all areas that can be treated separately or bundled together in various ways.

How many Ultherapy treatments are needed?

The beauty of Ultherapy is that one treatment yields visible results! Typically, clients treat an area just once and are happy with results, although you may re-treat if you'd prefer a more drastic outcome. The only area Grace Medical Aesthetics suggests a series of treatments for is the under eyes. We suggest treating the under eyes three times for optimal improvement of crepey-ness or bags.
